The Woodwolf machines in the Brecher series are classic coarse pre-shredders. Unlike single-shaft shredders, they have no rotor and no counter-blade. The material is therefore not cut, but crushed. This is achieved using a 1,000 mm diameter auger, which is positioned horizontally within the machine body. It crushes and tears pallets, crates or furniture into pieces approximately the size of A4 paper. These can then be transported via a conveyor belt to the secondary shredder.
All the control cabinets used are designed, wired and built by WEIMA in Ilsfeld. They are fitted with a high-quality Siemens PLC. They are operated using just a few simple, clearly laid-out buttons. Keep it simple.
Unlike many other pallet shredders, WEIMA pre-shredders allow several pallets to be fed in at once. The extremely robust hopper, featuring a reinforced loading edge, offers a large buffer capacity. There is no need for manual feeding of individual pallets. This saves time and increases material throughput. If required, the hopper can also be fitted with a cover to prevent material from flying out, thereby improving safety during operation.
A tried-and-tested electric gear motor drives the screw rotor directly, ensuring continuous power transmission, whilst the hydraulic unit is housed in a protected enclosure. This robust design is extremely low-maintenance, compact and durable.
The low screw speed minimises noise levels, thereby protecting your surroundings from noise pollution. The feed material is crushed by the screw rotor rather than being cut by a knife and counter-knife at significantly higher rotor speeds, as is the case with conventional single-shaft shredders.
Depending on requirements or space constraints, the frame height of the primary crusher can be freely selected. This ensures optimal removal of the pre-crushed material via a conveyor belt or into a container. It is also possible to position it directly above a secondary crusher to save space.
In most cases, primary crushers from the WEIMA crusher series are used within a two-stage processing plant. Once pallets, for example, have been pre-shredded by these machines, metal separation and further shredding follow. Single-shaft shredders such as the WLK 800 or WLK 1000 are suitable for this purpose. The wood chips produced can be burned directly in a heating system or compressed into an even higher-quality fuel using a briquetting press.
The large hopper opening provides ample space for quick and user-friendly feeding using a forklift, large wheel loader or even a crane. Depending on the application, the use of a feed conveyor belt is also an option.
The extra-large auger rotor is the heart of the shredder and is located in the machine housing, which is extremely robust thanks to its 40 mm reinforced steel side walls. The auger is fitted with welded blades at the outer ends of the flights. These can be replaced quickly when worn. The tried-and-tested helical shape ensures a consistent material discharge.
A crusher screw with a flight circle diameter of 1,000 mm must be mounted on a suitably robust bearing. For this reason, WEIMA uses reinforced spherical roller bearings that are mounted separately from the machine frame. This effectively prevents foreign matter from entering the bearing.
